Cades Cove Wedding at the Missionary Baptist Church
If you’re dreaming of a Smoky Mountain wedding, you’ll love Chris and Kati’s ceremony at the Missionary Baptist Church in the heart of Cades Cove.
This sweet couple drove from Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with 20 of their closest family members and friends. The wintery weather forecast was 90% rain all day, but as we drove into the cove, the sun came out and it was a warm 65+ degrees. We thought for sure the rain was on its way, and our time outside for photos was limited. “We might have 30 minutes more until it starts raining,” we said.
They got married at the Missionary Baptist Church with Chaplain Fred Patterson officiating, and it was a sweet and memorable wedding with their parents and grandparents sitting on the old wooden pews in the first 3 rows of the church. The sunshine was gleaming through the windows as they said their vows.
Then, after their ceremony, we began driving around the Cades Cove loop and saw a wall of rain across the cove just pouring onto the mountains….still no rain where we were. “We might have 5 more minutes until the rain gets here,” we said. So we continued shooting, and driving, and shooting, and driving. We stopped at the Cades Cove wildlife overlook, Abrams Falls, and other locations on the loop. It sprinkled on us for maybe 2 minutes total, all day!
Kati and Chris couldn’t have asked for a more intimate Smoky Mountain wedding, beautiful day, or better weather.
