Martha Washington Inn Wedding
This Martha Washington Inn wedding in Abingdon, Virginia, is overflowing with elegant details in this historic hotel. Caroline and Joe’s fall wedding was on October 24, 2014, and it was a destination wedding for them, their families, and wedding guests. Most of their guests were from Alabama, and it was a beautiful fall day with orange and yellow leaves rustling across the ground everywhere.
Caroline’s two sisters were bridesmaids in the wedding, and Joe’s brothers were groomsmen. Catering, hair and makeup was by the spa at the Martha Washington Inn, and their wedding cake was by Nancy’s Fancy’s. All of the wedding flowers were made by Caroline’s mom.
About Martha Washington Inn
The Martha Washington Inn was originally built in 1832. Over the last 182 years, it has been a private residence, women’s college, Civil War barracks and hospital, and today as a hotel and spa. It is located across the street from the Barter Theatre, and actors used to stay at the inn too. In the 1930sand 1940s, there was an underground tunnel that connected the Martha Washington Inn and the Barter Theatre that actors would use.
