Sailboat Engagement Photos
These sailboat engagement photos will carry you away to a breezy summer evening on the lake! To say that Joe and I were excited about photographing Annie and AJ’s on a sailboat would be an understatement. These sailboat engagement photos were SO much fun, we all had such a blast!
Annie and AJ are both swimmers, and Annie is a college swim team coach. They are also huge John F Kennedy fans, and when we started chatting about JFK, a classic black and white photo of John and Jackie on their infamous sailboat popped into my head! Annie was super-excited about the idea, and so we made it happen one Friday summer evening in Knoxville.
We sailed out of Concord Yacht Club on Esperanza, a lovely Easterly 38 built near New Orleans in 1976. Esperanza’s owner, Kevin, rescued her when she was halfway sunken, he pulled her out of the water, brought her to Knoxville, and he and his wife have been restoring Esperanza over the past 10 years. Kevin said he has sailed all of his life. Sailboats are his passion!
The evening we sailed out of Concord Yacht Club, there was a nice steady breeze. This was fabulous for sailing, but it was amazingly tough for us to photograph! Taking pictures on the swaying dock was one of the toughest challenges we’ve had yet as Knoxville wedding photographers. Imagine standing on a dock that’s swaying up and down, the wind is blowing, and you have to steady yourself enough to look through the camera, focus, and then snap before it goes out of focus! We felt like drunken photographers, and everyone was cracking up the entire time we were on the dock!
