Smoky Mountain Wedding at A King’s Lodge

Greta and Rex’s intimate wedding was at A King’s Lodge in Sevierville, Tennessee. Nestled between the Great Smoky Mountains in Wears Valley, these two got married on the back lawn of the lodge with the Appalachian Mountains standing tall in the background.

When Greta first reached out to us, it was only 3 weeks before their wedding. Rex is in the Army, so they had a very tight window of time between travels and work when they could get married and both of their families could be together. We were so happy that we were available, and we met them for their nuptials on a hot evening in August.

Greta said, “We have a very small window of opportunity to make this wedding happen. All of our immediate family is flying and driving in for this wedding. We are hoping for something very simple.” And that was exactly what they did!

Despite the heat, Greta’s mother made homemade ice cream, and everyone enjoyed the cool treat in her grandmother’s antique pink glassware. Greta’s nieces and nephew were the flower girls and ring bearer, and they all had pizza for dinner.

Everything about their wedding was centered around their families and enjoying the day together. After the ceremony, her father sang a song and played the guitar and everyone gathered around him in the living room of the cabin. I honestly don’t think we will ever forget that moment – everyone grinning with excitement for the newlyweds as her father danced and sang and the children giggled while eating as many chocolates as possible within their reach.

It’s moments like these, and wedding days like this, that we find ourselves blessed to be a part of. They invited us into the happiest day of their lives, and we were blessed to capture the moments for them so they are framed in time, to look back on in the years to come.
