Foothills Parkway Elopement

We’re thrilled to share this Foothills Parkway elopement in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with you today! Tara and Nick eloped in one of our favorite national park locations with epic scenic views, a beautiful waterfall, and an amazing sunset.

When Tara and Nick first reached out to us in December 2019, she said, “We are total outdoor enthusiasts. We especially love the mountains, hence the destination mountain wedding!” We all know what happened only a few months after she reached out to us in early 2020, but it was especially challenging for Tara because she is from Australia. Yes, Tara had to wait months and month until she could travel to the USA before they could get married!

She said, “I’m from Australia and was an au pair in Washington DC. Nick was in Maryland when we met just before I moved back home. We kept in contact and did long distance until Nick moved to Australia. He proposed after a long hike up a mountain in The Grampians, Victoria, Australia.”

Although the pandemic kept them apart and delayed their wedding, they had the most beautiful ceremony in one of the most beautiful locations in the Great Smoky Mountains. Unlike most locations in the national park, there is cell phone service on the Foothills Parkway, so they used Zoom so all their friends and families around the world could watch.

We have the permit required to photograph weddings in the park, and we visit the park dozens of times each year to photograph weddings.
