Gatlinburg SkyBridge

Sunrise is the beginning of a new day, representing a fresh beginning — the opportunity for happiness and hope. And when you find happiness within yourself and with another person (your companion, spouse, or soul mate), it fills your heart like no other. You can overcome obstacles you never imagined, and you can accomplish things together that you always dreamed of.

For more than 65 years, the Gatlinburg SkyLift has taken millions of visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains up 1,800 feet high atop Crockett Mountain for the most amazing scenic views of the Smokies. After the devastating wildfires in 2016 significantly damaged the chairlift and completely destroyed the viewing deck, the historic attraction was presented with one of its greatest obstacles.

However, like every great story, it has a good ending…or fresh beginning, we should say. Within months of the wildfire, it rebuilt and re-opened with an all new chairlift. Then, earlier this year they opened the SkyBridge. There is nothing like it on the continent of North America. The Gatlinburg Skylift and Skybridge are amazing stories of fresh beginnings and hope, overcoming devastation and accomplishing their wildest dreams!

And so, it was only appropriate that we captured the new Gatlinburg SkyBridge at sunrise. When the fog was delicately hanging on the mountain tops, and the sun was peeking out from behind the Smokies. In the very wee hours of the morning before the sun came up, we met Kseniya and Garrett. As the sun was creeping up into the sky, the clouds turned the most amazing colors of pink, purple, and orange. Being so high above the town, it was as peaceful and serene as it was jaw-droopingly gorgeous.

“And suddenly you know: It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.” – Meister Eckhart

Gatlinburg SkyBridge

The Gatlinburg SkyBridge is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains, it is 680 feet across and provides stunning views of the Smokies. At the midpoint, it is 140 feet high, and there are glass floor panels where you can look down (it’s not for the faint of heart!).

It is part of the Gatlinburg SkyLift, which has been a staple attraction in Gatlinburg for more than 65 years. Visitors ride the Skylift up to the SkyDeck and can enjoy the viewing deck, outdoor seating, food and beverages before traversing the SkyBridge.
