Great Smoky Mountains National Park Wedding
We are firm believers that everything happens for a reason. Couples are brought together and their paths cross at the perfect moment in time. And when it’s meant to be, it’s going to be. This is exactly what happened with Jessica and Dale, and their wedding in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
When they first met, they knew they were meant to be together forever, through all the best times and also the worst times. Just like wedding vows say “…from this day forward, for better, for worse…”
So, a few months after we met them, Jessica messaged us in February and told us Dale had a pulmonary embolism while they were visiting Pigeon Forge and he was in critical condition. They were in the hospital for weeks, and we prayed every day. Chaplain Fred Patterson, their wedding officiant, visited them in the hospital. Jessica messaged us a week later and said, “Dale is everything I’ve wanted in a husband: tenacious, tough, kind, and stubborn. Yesterday, I got to add another tagline about Dale per the medical staff & me: ‘medical miracle.'”
Fast forward to September 8, 2018: the most amazing and beautiful day in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. When Jessica walked down the aisle, the moment she joined Dale, there were two very loud lightning strikes and rolls of thunder that shook our chests. We all stood there in the middle of the forest, laughing at the droplets hitting our faces and umbrellas, and the unmistakable coincidence of it all.
They really didn’t mind the rain…it was all a part of their adventure together. No doubt, that was one of the most memorable wedding moments we have witnessed. And we were sure God was there, right in the middle of it, celebrating the joining of these two.
In November, just two months after they were married, they also celebrated Dale’s first “Kidney-versary.” He is a kidney transplant receiver, and it marked one year living with his kidney.
No doubt, God made Jessica and Dale for each other. And, no doubt, they took the words “for better, for worse” seriously. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing couple!
