Historic Westwood Wedding
Today, we’re sharing the classy and music-infused wedding of Janet and Andrew at Historic Westwood in Knoxville. This couple’s love for jazz music is a significant part of their life, and Andrew designs and handcrafts drum sets. He also used to be a member of the University of Tennessee marching band, so his dark chocolate Guiness groom’s cake by Magpies was in the shape of a drum with edible drumsticks.
We met Janet at their house the afternoon of their wedding. The moment we walked into their home, we saw a baby grand piano near the front door that Janet plays, and there was jazz music playing in the background. It literally felt like we were walking onto the set of a classic movie. Their two dogs greeted us with soft curls bouncing as they ran, and Janet was sipping on a mimosa as the final touches were put on her hair and makeup.
When we arrived at Historic Westwood, we were greeted by their fabulous wedding coordinators, Stephen, and Alyson of Historic Westwood. The flowers by Lisa Foster Floral Design were on point, as always, and perfectly complimented their timeless wedding decor. There was a chance of rain on the day of their wedding, so they decided to have a large tent by All Occasions Party Rentals on the front lawn. Thank goodness they made that decision, because it sprinkled during their ceremony and started raining minutes after their reception ended. But the rain didn’t cramp their style, and the celebration didn’t miss a beat!
Their wedding ceremony took place on the front steps of Historic Westwood, and each of their guests had a candle. After Janet and Andrew lit their unity candle, they shared the flame with all of their guests. It was so beautiful looking around the ceremony with everyone’s candles lit! After they said “I do” and kissed, they ran down the aisle full of twinkling candles.
And of course, keeping with their music-infused celebration, this duo had a live jazz band at their reception. The drummer played one of Andrew’s handcrafted drum sets, and Andrew even sat down and played the drums for a few songs! It was a celebration Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, and Louis Armstrong would have be proud to be a part of.
