Kite Flying Engagement Photos
We had a blast taking these kite flying engagement photos with Katie and Ryan! Flying a kite reminds us of summer beach family vacations, the whiff of fresh cut grass in the breeze, the sound of children running around playing at family reunions, and the movie Mary Poppins!
One of my favorite summer beach vacation memories was flying a bright red, yellow and blue kite at the beach with cousins at our annual family reunion. My cousins and I went to the one and only kite store at the beach, and we each purchased our own kite. Our parents helped us put them together, and then we spent hours standing in the sand with the breeze lifting our kites up as high as we could possibly get them! Despite the fact that we spent what seemed like hours untangling all the kite twine later that night, we absolutely loved flying kites!
For Katie and Ryan’s kite flying engagement photos, we hand-made the yellow fabric kite. It was lovely in the farm field with Katie and Ryan, her cowgirl boots, his blue bow tie, and the vintage wooden kite spool with string. We also brought an additional nylon red kite with us, and Katie and Ryan ran through the field flying it at the end of their engagement photo session.
Katie and Ryan are always so much fun to be around, and Ryan is absolutely hilarious! So, you can imagine when we met them for kite flying engagement photos, Ryan was pumped and ready! If the amount of fun we had taking their kite flying engagement photos is any indication of the level of fun we will have photographing their wedding in July, then we are counting down the days!
