Maple Grove Estate Wedding
By the looks of Travis & Allie’s wedding, you’re probably wondering if it was in Charleston or Savannah. The long avenue with ancient trees gracefully stretching across the drive, the handsome historic home built in 1799, and the quintessential southern red brick patio where their al fresco reception was held under twinkling cafe lights. Nope, their wedding was in Knoxville, Tennessee, at Maple Grove Estate.
Knoxville’s newest (and oldest) wedding venue is quietly tucked away in West Knoxville, and these newlyweds couldn’t have had a more memorable ceremony on a gorgeous afternoon in May. Surrounded by 50 of their closest friends and families, Allie and Travis purposely chose to have an intimate wedding.
That morning, it rained on and off. It was one of those spring days when the rain comes in bursts, and then the sun comes out and dries everything in minutes. Allie was getting ready in the bridal suite, and she opened the doors to the patio and listened to the rain as she was getting her hair and makeup done. She said one of her favorite memories was sitting with her grandmother on her front porch drinking sweet tea and listening to the rain trickle down. Sitting there at Maple Grove Estate on her wedding day with the rain outside reminded her of her grandmother, and she knew she was there with her.
Allie and Travis got married under the covered brick patio with a light breeze and sheer drapes whisking in the wind behind them. Chaplain Fred Patterson officiated, and Allie and Travis were so thrilled after they kissed that they took a moment and looked at each other with 100% joy and happiness before turning and walking down the aisle together as husband and wife. Pure happiness and joy filled their souls, and then the excitement followed!
Because the rain was scattered throughout their wedding day, guests ate dinner inside Maple Grove Estate’s dining room. Comfortably seating 50 guests, everyone enjoyed the fairy lights, candles greenery, and decor from Powell Florist and Allie’s mom. After dinner, everyone went outside on the red brick patio for their first dance as husband and wife. It was a gorgeous evening, and the lightning bugs began flickering in the trees.

Knoxville Weddings at Maple Grove Estate
Maple Grove Estate has a long history in Knoxville, Tennessee. Built in 1799, the 10,000 square-foot historic home sits on 15 acres on Westland Avenue in west Knoxville. It was a wedding venue in the 1990s and early 2000s, and we photographed weddings there before it closed. Since then, the Shankles family purchased the estate, and they have been very hard at work renovating and updating the property. Today, with the new owners, the estate is open again and it’s being renovated, rejuvenated, improved, and updated! It is now open for weddings and events, and we couldn’t be more excited for this picturesque and southern gem to be available for Knoxville brides and grooms.
