Max Patch Fall Engagement Photos
We love an adventurous engagement session, and these Max Patch pictures overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains are exactly that! We met Sydney and Sean for their fall engagement photos high atop the Tennessee-North Carolina border on a very windy afternoon.
If you’ve ever been to Max Patch before, then you know how windy it can be high atop the mountain. The wind was so cold that we took a break with Sydney and Sean, and we all huddled together and I gave her some gloves to keep her hands warm!
We are always amazed at how many visitors hike up the mountain each day, and even more amazed that so many people pitched tents and camped overnight. In the summer, some even spend multiple nights star-gazing with the breathtaking 360-degree views of the Great Smoky Mountains, Balsam Mountains, and Black Mountains.
About Max Patch
Max Patch is located high atop the Pisgah National Forest near Hot Springs, North Carolina. With panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountains and Balsam Mountains, it is on the Tennessee and North Carolina state border. In the 1800s, the mountain was cleared and used as pasture, so it’s a popular location for camping and hiking. On any given night, there are multiple people camping with tents and you can see the roaring flames of small campfires. There is a small parking lot at the base of the bald, with a 20-30 minute hike to the top.
