Foothills Parkway Elopement in the Smokies
They were supposed to have a big wedding in California, but all those plans changed when the pandemic hit. She’s a doctor at an NYC hospital, and he is an orthopedic surgeon. You can only imagine the emotional and physical stress they’ve been through the last few months.
The one thing that kept them going was each other. He was her rock on the most emotional and stressful days. They met 4 years ago in med school, and he knew from the day he met her that she was the one. So, when their wedding was cancelled, they decided to drive down to Gatlinburg and elope in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
And so they did – with a jaw-dropping view of the Great Smoky Mountains brushed with “smoke” lingering across the mountaintops and dancing with the wind. With the Foothills Parkway nearly all to ourselves except a few motorcyclists (scroll for more on that!), they read their own hand written vows, said I Do, kissed and immediately turned to take in the panoramic view as husband and wife.
About the Foothills Parkway
The Foothills Parkway in Tennessee is one of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s most beautiful and scenic locations. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon drive, stargazing, or a summer picnic. But, it’s also a jaw-dropping location for elopements and intimate weddings – with overlooks, a waterfall, and the newly completed “Missing Link.” If you’re thinking about having a Smoky Mountain wedding or elopement, the Foothills Parkway should be on your list.
