Walk Through a Wedding with Justin & Mary
Last week, we traveled to New Haven, CT, for a “Walk Through a Wedding” Justin & Mary wedding photography workshop. It was an intense 2-day learning experience with Justin & Mary Marantz and 19 wedding photographers from Minnesota to Maine. Traveling from 60-degree Tennessee weather to the wintery Long Island Sound was an amazing experience, with snow banks taller than Joe and wind gusts that chapped this Tennessee girl’s lips in a snap.
The first day of the workshop was a “Cocoa & Chanel” themed wedding shoot with 2 lovely models, amazing makeup artist Erin Infantino (www.simplygorgeousbyerin.com), event designer Sarah with Daisies & Pearls (www.daisiesandpearls.com), and head piece designer (www.prestonandolivia.com). Most of the workshop was at Justin & Mary’s home, and we also visited a historic home (www.chetstone.com) for the wedding day shooting portion.
Spending two 14-hour days with Justin & Mary really pushed us to take our wedding photography to the next level (or “plus 1 it” as Mary would say). To be super thoughtful and purposeful about snapping each photo, and to incorporate Justin’s awesome lighting techniques in a myriad of wedding day situations.
The Justin & Mary Walk Through a Wedding workshop was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to share all of the gems we learned with our clients this wedding season in Knoxville! We will certainly be “plus 1-ing” it – starting now!
