Foothills Parkway Foggy Elopement
Sometimes the Great Smoky Mountains are….really smoky! When Frances and Gabriel met us for their elopement on the Foothills Parkway in September, we could only see a few trees through all the fog. It was raining, but they didn’t care. She giggled through their ceremony, and the water droplets didn’t phase them one bit.
They hiked across the flowing waterfall as water was splashing up beside them, and we embraced the beauty of the famous “blue smoke” at the Missing Link. The name Smoky Mountains is derived from the Cherokee word “Shaconage” which means “land of the blue smoke.” Long before European settlers came to the Great Smoky Mountains, the region was inhabited by the Cherokee people.
About the Foothills Parkway
The Foothills Parkway in Tennessee is one of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s most beautiful and scenic locations with amazing sunsets. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon drive, stargazing, leaf peeping in the fall, or a summer picnic. But, it’s also a jaw-dropping location for elopements and intimate weddings – with overlooks, a waterfall, and the recently completed “Missing Link.” If you’re thinking about having a Smoky Mountain wedding, elopement or engagement photos, the Foothills Parkway should be on your list.
